Our association has the state-of-the-art, Feed Raw Materials & Poultry Disease Diagnostic lab set up in its facilities. Details of the services, that members can avail, free of cost are, as under.

1. Nutritional profiling of poultry feed and Raw materials by NIRS

2. Microbiology

Microbial identification

Dr. B.Umakantha,
Senior Scientist,
KVAFSU-KPFBA Poultry Training Center and Diagnostic Laboratory

Dr. Umakantha graduated from Mysore Veterinary College, Bangalore in 1972. He completed his Master in Veterinary pathology in 1974 at the University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore. He worked as a Veterinary Assistant Surgeon for two years in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, GOK overseeing the day-to-day health of large animals and pets. Over the following Seven years, he worked closely with farmers and veterinary professionals of Karnataka Dairy Development Corporation in the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory as a Microbiologist/pathologist in the control of pathogens, health monitoring, disease investigation, and diagnosis, preparation of disease and parasitic maps and performance improvement in cattle and buffaloes. In 1983 he moved to the Department of Poultry Science, UAS, Hebbal, and rendered his services till retirement in the year 2013 on all aspects of poultry management with emphasis on grandparent management, disease prevention and investigation, health monitoring, biosecurity, health plans, etc. He continued his services after his retirement as a consultant to the Department till 2019. He has experience in all three wings of the University i.e. teaching, research, and extension. He has published numerous research papers, abstracts, books, popular articles, and extension folders. He has guided 25 MV.Scs and 1 PhD students. Presently he has been working at KVAFSU-KPFBA Poultry Training Center and Diagnostic Laboratory since September 2022, being Senior Scientist.
